Dr. David and Janet Congo’s passion is to “Keep the WOW in their VOW” while encouraging others to do the same. They are Co-founders of e-LifeMates, an International Marriage Ministry dedicated to the celebration of marriage.
David is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and ordained
minister. Janet is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and former
university instructor. Together, they operate a private counseling
clinic in Laguna Hills, CA. They are certified Life Planners and
Trainers for PREP, PAIRS, Prepare/Enrich and act as visiting professors
to universities in Canada. Their book, LifeMates: A Lover’s
Guide for a Lifetime Relationship (Cook Communications) was
a finalist for the Gold Medalion Award in July 2003, and has been
published in both Chinese and Dutch. Their recently released book,
One Good Year of Marriage: Making the Most of the Rest of Your Marriage,(Cook
Communications, 2004) is an interactive book targeted to those married
five years or longer. Between them they have authored eleven other
books on relationship.
Over the last nine years 30,000 couples have attended a LifeMates Date Nite event at Saddleback Church, Lake Forest, CA which David and Janet have directed. LifeMates is a Date Nite for engaged and married couples held quarterly in a church setting. Together the Congos created the LifeMates Date Nite Kit to enable other churches to host Date Nite evenings of excellence where couples have fun, make new friends and are challenged to grow closer to God and each other.
Together they have hosted and appeared on numerous television and radio programs. They are conference and seminar speakers. They live in Laguna Niguel, CA, have been married for 34 years and have two adult children and a wonderful son-in-law.
They hold professional membership in the following organizations:
American Psychological Association, Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, California Association of Marriage and FamilyTherapists, American Psychotherapy Association, Association of Marriage and Family Ministries and the American Association of Christian Counselors.
Presently they serve on the advisory boards of two national organizations, the Association of Marriage and Family Ministries and the Marriage Family Network of the American Association of Christian Counselors. |
